Brand Design Lead

Descript helps creators and companies tell stories through video. The creative team ensures that the brand lives up to the ethos of its customers.

As the Brand Design Lead, you will evolve the brand while creating for campaigns, web experiences, and events. You’ll balance big-picture concepting, building brand systems, and designing with expert-level craft. Reporting to the Director of Brand & Content, you will be trusted and supported to create daring work that reminds people of the joy of storytelling.

Responsibilities

• Set a high bar and execute work that exceeds it
• Evolve and extend the Descript brand for campaigns, web, and events
• Lead concept and design for launches and campaigns from brief to delivery
• Build a scalable brand system
• Develop brand systems and toolkits for consistent application
• Enable partners to create on-brand assets independently
• Multiply your creative impact using AI tools and processes
• Direct internal and external creative partners
• Mentor designers and promote your craft within the company

Requirements

• Minimum 6+ years of experience in brand design, in-house or agency
• Portfolio demonstrating strategic thinking and executional craft across web, social, and paid channels
• Strong command of typography, color, and composition
• Evidence of building a scalable brand system
• Experience directing outside creative partners
• Fluency with AI tools for producing and scaling work

Nice to Have

• Brand work within a SaaS company, especially in creative software
• Motion, front-end development, or illustration skills
• Experience creating generative brand tooling
• Comfort with being on camera and sharing your work publicly

The base salary range for this role is $140,000 - $185,000.
