Description
Grafana Labs is seeking a Staff Backend Software Engineer - Loki to join their team. The successful candidate will work on designing, building, operating, and maintaining critical systems, with a focus on reliability, performance, and availability.
The Databases team owns the telemetry databases that are Mimir for metrics, Loki for logs, Tempo for traces, and Pyroscope for profiles. The ideal candidate will have experience with at least one programming language, such as Go, Python, C, C++, or Rust.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing, building, operating, and maintaining critical systems
- Taking an active role in influencing the roadmap and career objectives
- Working with the team to deliver new features and iterating to improve
- Driving projects from initial ideation to operations
- Embracing the open-source culture and contributing to other projects
- Being part of the team's on-call rotations and taking ownership of services
- Mentoring and supporting other team members
Requirements:
- Solid experience with at least one programming language
- Experience with delivering projects from gathering requirements to shipping a product
- Experience with developing software that runs in the Cloud or systems engineering
- Experience writing clean, robust, and performant software
Bonus points for:
- Experience writing low-level code for databases or storage layers
- Experience working with Kubernetes
- Experience with Grafana and/or Prometheus
- Exposure to microservices architecture and distributed systems

The base compensation range for this role is CAD 186,500 to CAD 223,500.
