Software Engineer, Backend

Stripe, a financial infrastructure platform, is seeking a Software Engineer, Backend. You will develop scalable computer systems to manage large volumes of information, improve backend scalability and performance, design and build tools for ingesting and processing signals, and diagnose and resolve software issues.

Responsibilities:

• Develop scalable computer systems to fulfill business goals
• Improve backend scalability and performance by integrating lightweight frameworks, overhauling APIs, and optimising database systems
• Design and build tools to ingest and process signals from various sources
• Design and implement logging and data visualisation systems for backend APIs
• Diagnose and resolve software issues reported from production, automated testing, QA testing, and customers
• Design and implement scalable and reliable automated testing suites
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and streamline software development and deployment processes with CI/CD pipelines

Requirements:

• Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• Six years of software development experience
• Four years of experience in building software solutions in Java, C++, Python, or Ruby
• Four years of experience in designing, building, and maintaining scalable systems
• Experience translating business needs into software requirements and designs
• Experience debugging production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack
• Knowledge of distributed systems and design and implementation of scalable high-performance RESTful microservices
