Senior Technical Designer

We are seeking a Senior Technical Designer to join our team at EA Studios - Motive Montreal. As a Senior Technical Designer, you will be an essential link between design and engineering services. You will work with the Unreal game engine and learn about different components and innovative systems.

Responsibilities:

• Proactively solve problems and make significant contributions.
• Support and mentor team members on workflows and technical aspects, serving as a first line of support for designers and programmers.
• Maintain and implement systems and features during production.
• Evaluate plans, content, and gameplay for consistency, quality, and compliance with performance objectives, memory allocation, and standards.
• Promote best practices within the content team.
• Communicate proactively with your supervisor and colleagues to establish task objectives and priorities.
• Identify problems or areas for improvement and implement innovative solutions.

Requirements:

• Experience with technical design processes, content creation, engines, tools, and pipelines.
• Good knowledge of advanced game engines such as Unreal, Unity, or others.
• Ideally, some experience with scripting or visual scripting.
• Experience with artificial intelligence design, behavior trees, navigation meshes, data creation, and debugging.
• Understand how code works and how to merge design and engineering practices.
• Experience working in a multidisciplinary team and establishing links between creators and engineers.
• Knowledge of modern game design trends and functionality.
