Description
The Boeing SI&WS Daybreak team is hiring a Software Engineer to develop, integrate, maintain, and modernize software applications supporting mission-critical processing workflows in AWS cloud environments.
Responsibilities:
- Designs, develops, tests, and maintains software components and applications using Python, C, and C++ to support mission-critical processing workflows
- Analyzes, debugs, and integrates existing algorithms and legacy applications; develop interfaces and wrappers to make software capabilities available to higher-level applications and services
- Evaluates legacy implementations and dependencies to determine appropriate approaches for integration, modification, refactoring, or selective rewriting
- Develops and maintains software for ingesting, parsing, validating and processing specialized data formats and associated metadata
- Packages, containerizes, and rehosts software applications in AWS cloud environments, supporting reliable execution and integration with existing cloud services
- Use cloud tools and infrastructure-as-code technologies, such as Pulumi, to configure application resources, manage deployment dependencies, and support repeatable software deployments
- Develops, tests, and delivers software using GitLab and CI/CD pipelines, supporting automated builds, testing, integration, and deployment
- Troubleshoots software issues across application code, data formats, native libraries, interfaces, dependencies, and deployment environments
- Develops automated tests, validation procedures, and error handling to ensure software reliability, data integrity, and maintainability
- Integrates software components into existing architectures and processing pipelines; support deployment, verification, and ongoing operational maintenance
- Participates in Agile software development activities, including iteration planning, backlog refinement, and team collaboration within a SAFe framework
- Collaborates with software engineers, system engineers, and stakeholders to translate technical requirements into effective software solutions
- Documents software designs, interfaces, dependencies, and integration procedures to support long-term sustainment and reuse
What success looks like:
- Reliable software capabilities delivered and maintained to support mission-critical processing requirements
- Existing algorithms and applications successfully integrated into supported software environments
- Robust handling and processing of specialized data formats and associated metadata
- Software components packaged and deployed reliably within AWS cloud environments using repeatable, documented procedures
- Effective use of cloud services and deployment tools to support application integration and sustainment
- Automated builds, testing, and deployment processes that improve software quality, reliability, and delivery consistency
- Clear technical documentation and effective collaboration that support software integration, troubleshooting, and sustainment
