Photojournalist

KHOU-TV Houston, a TEGNA CBS station, seeks a skilled Photojournalist to create engaging content for TV, social media, and mobile platforms.

The ideal candidate has experience with the latest photography, editing tools, and techniques. They should be able to work independently or as part of a team, and be comfortable with live news gathering and on-air appearances.

Responsibilities:

• Capture compelling video and audio elements for news, sports, and feature stories
• Operate ENG trucks or IP video-based live units (TVU) when assigned
• Work solo or in a team on daily news assignments
• Attend editorial meetings and suggest story ideas
• Enhance stories using creative production techniques

Requirements:

• BA/BS in journalism, communications, or a related field preferred
• 3-5 years of experience in a newsroom environment
• Experience in photojournalism, editing, and content management systems
• Flexibility with scheduling, reliability, and dependability
• Ability to generate creative, engaging live shots
• Knowledge of EDIUS or similar non-linear editing systems
• Organizational skills and ability to work under tight deadlines
• Ability to handle live, breaking news situations
• Physical ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and occasionally up to 80 lbs.
• Current driver's license and ability to operate a news gathering vehicle
