Process Engineer

We are seeking a Process Engineer to join our team at FUCHS in Fairhaven, MA. As a hands-on manufacturing engineering position, you will work directly with R&D, Process Engineering, Planning, and Manufacturing to improve the safety, consistency, quality, throughput, and efficiency of our specialty lubricant and compound manufacturing processes.

The salary range for this position is $75,000 to $85,000 per year, dependent on experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities:

• Provide day-to-day engineering support on the manufacturing floor for batch processing, mixing, heating, cooling, material addition, transfer, filtration, filling, packaging, and related operations.
• Observe production processes, collect data, and identify areas for improvement.
• Troubleshoot production problems and work with cross-functional teams.
• Support engineering, R&D, commercialization, and scale-up batches.
• Collect and analyse process data to reduce cycle time, process variability, waste, and rework.
• Execute defined continuous-improvement activities.
• Support root cause investigations, deviations, CAPA, and recurring manufacturing issues.
• Evaluate and optimise process equipment with Maintenance and Equipment Engineering.
• Support scale-up and commercialization of new products and processes.
• Develop and update batch instructions, SOPs, and technical reports.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of direct, relevant, full-time engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial process environment.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience working in or supporting manufacturing operations.
• Ability to spend significant time on the manufacturing floor and work directly with operators and technicians.
• Working knowledge of batch-process equipment and process documentation.
• Strong problem-solving, data-analysis, communication, and documentation skills.
• Experience with root cause analysis, CAPA, Lean or Six Sigma, DOE, FMEA, SPC, and process capability is a plus.
