Quality Engineer (Project)

As a Quality Engineer (Project) at Alcon, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality of our product output on a timely basis. You will work closely with various departments to meet client requirements and enhance working relationships with client quality contacts.

Key Responsibilities:

• New Product Introduction and Project Quality:
• Apply APQP and PPAP processes to new and existing projects
• Participate in NPI meetings and provide quality engineering input
• Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to understand customer and product requirements
• Validate new or improved processes using quality tools and resources
• Utilize practical knowledge of IMDS

• Customer Quality Support:
• Liaise with clients on quality-related matters and apply problem-solving methods
• Raise concession requests with clients and follow them through to completion
• Monitor, manage, and resolve client warranty claims and quality containment requests

• Issue Resolution, Returns, and Supplier Support:
• Track, log, and manage client returns through to final resolution
• Work with internal manufacturing areas and suppliers to resolve quality issues

• Audits, Documentation, and Product Assurance:
• Prepare and maintain supporting documentation for internal and external quality audits
• Conduct internal system and process audits related to quality and environmental management systems
• Perform product audits and track associated actions through to closure

• Meetings and Customer Representation:
• Organize and lead internal and external meetings as required
• Represent the company professionally in client-facing meetings
• Maintain accurate and effective records within the company's quality management systems

Key Competencies:

• HNC in Engineering or related subject
• Computer literacy with ERP software and MS Office
• Presentation preparation and delivery skills
• Effective communication and reporting at all organizational levels
• Familiarity with Quality tools such as Control Plans, ISIR, 8D reporting, QOS KPI's
• Experience with 5 Quality Core Tools (APQP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, PPAP)
• IMDS database usage and updating experience
• IATF16949 certified internal auditor
• 5 years of experience in Engineering, Mechanical, or Metallurgic industry
• Technical drawing reading and interpretation skills
• Understanding of standard manual inspection gauges and their application
