The Accounts team at Tide is the platform layer at the centre of Tide's financial infrastructure. It owns the core financial ledger, account opening, regulatory compliance, statements, and account lifecycle management.
About the Role:
We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the Accounts team through a transition as the ledger is being carved out into its own dedicated team. The successful candidate will help design the seam between the two teams, work out where engineers land, and build the organisational and technical foundation for both.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the Accounts team (9 engineers: backend, mobile, web) through the ledger split
- Design the technical seam between the ledger and account opening, lifecycle management, and compliance
- Set the engineering direction for the Ledger Team post-split: performance, availability, consistency, long-term architecture
- Own system stability and operational reliability: SLOs, observability, on-call practice
- Partner with product, compliance, and internal operations teams to ensure accuracy, supportability, and compliance across all markets
- Grow engineers at every level
- Align with other EMs across Banking on cross-cutting infrastructure decisions
Requirements:
- Meaningful engineering management experience
- Solid backend engineering foundation
- Experience leading distributed, remote-first teams across time zones
- Proven experience leading technical teams, aligning with senior leadership on deliveries, and partnering with product
- Fintech or banking domain experience
- Strong grasp of high-volume distributed systems
Tech Stack:
- Containerised microservices in Java, Python & Go
- Web Applications in AngularJS
- Hosted in AWS
- Primary datastores are AWS Aurora PostgreSQL
- Docker, Terraform, ArgoCD and, EKS Coralogix for monitoring, observability and automated SLOs
- GitHub CI/CD pipelines
