Description
We are seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to join our Liveable Places team, based from Westferry Circus (Canary Wharf), with flexible hybrid working.
In this role, you will lead the technical delivery of flagship highways and public realm projects across London. You will play a key role in designing high-quality highways, active travel, and public realm schemes, shaping streets and places that are safer, greener, and more inclusive.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading the delivery of multiple sustainable transport and public realm projects from early concept to detailed design and on-site implementation.
- Providing technical leadership and oversight across highways, public realm, and transport projects.
- Coordinating design and integration of multi-disciplinary design packages.
- Collaborating with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
- Reviewing and approving designs, reports, and technical deliverables.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant standards and industry best practice.
- Mentoring and developing junior engineers and graduates.
- Supporting framework opportunities and bid submissions.
Requirements:
- Experience delivering public realm, active travel, or transport schemes in complex urban environments, particularly in London.
- Strong experience in UK highways and public realm detailed design.
- Confidence working with standards such as MfS, DMRB, TSRGD, and LTN guidance.
- Proven ability to manage project programmes, budgets, and financial reporting.
- A proactive, collaborative, and delivery-focused approach with strong communication skills.
