Sr. Associate Director, Software Engineering (Shenzhen&Guang Zhou_GenAI Agent Platform)

Join the Group AI Platform team at HSBC's Chief Technology Office (CTO) as a Sr. Associate Director, Software Engineering. You'll work on building shared AI foundations that enable teams across the Bank to deliver AI solutions faster, more safely, and at scale.

The ideal candidate will have an AI-native mindset, applying AI-driven approaches to improve productivity, quality, and decision-making. You will:

• Own and deliver difficult engineering problems across core AI platform domains
• Design and implement production-grade services in Go (Golang)
• Make sound technical decisions in areas such as service boundaries, interface design, and failure handling
• Drive implementation quality through disciplined engineering practices
• Convert loosely defined requirements into clear designs and durable technical solutions
• Work closely with principal engineers and peer engineers to challenge assumptions and refine designs

Requirements:

• Experience designing or operating gateway platforms, service control planes, or application programming interface (API) mediation layers
• Familiarity with security controls for AI systems
• Practical understanding of retrieval-augmented generation architectures
• Experience with agentic systems or platforms used to build, orchestrate, and govern production-ready AI agents
• Working knowledge of Golang and/or Python
• Experience with Kubernetes and cloud-native production systems
• Track record of improving engineering organisations
