Description
We are seeking a Risk Controls Manager based in Asia to serve as the regional subject-matter expert for all aspects of external managers risk controls.
You will partner with regional execution teams and control functions of external groups to design, implement and maintain effective controls frameworks.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own regional responsibility for external managers risk controls, partnering with regional Execution teams and external trading groups to establish appropriate controls frameworks and address region-specific requirements.
- Serve as the regional subject-matter expert on external trading controls, including onboarding, pre-trade and post-trade risk management.
- Partner with the control functions of external trading groups to design and set trading limits, monitor adherence and manage exceptions.
- Coordinate control reviews, limit assessments and implementation requirements for the onboarding of external Portfolio Managers and third-party trading tools.
- Promote a clear and consistent understanding of the pre-trade and post-trade risk controls framework across external trading groups in the region.
- Develop and maintain controls dashboards to monitor performance against established controls, highlight emerging risks and identify remediation requirements.
- Review significant trading events, assess control implications and track the implementation of agreed remediation plans.
- Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of firm-wide standards, policies, procedures and governance for external trading activities.
Requirements:
- 10–15 years of relevant experience, preferably in a trading, risk or controls role; experience supporting electronic trading is highly desirable.
- Strong product knowledge in one or more of the following asset classes: equities, futures, options or commodities.
- Demonstrated experience designing, implementing or overseeing trading limits, control frameworks and exception-management processes.
- Excellent project-management skills, with the ability to prioritize immediate remediation while progressing medium-term control enhancements.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build consensus and influence senior stakeholders across functions and regions.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, manage competing priorities and maintain a strong focus on delivery.
- Knowledge of third-party execution platforms and trading tools is preferred.
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Tableau, SQL, VBA, Jira and/or Python is desirable.
