Description
We are seeking a highly organised and detail-focused Automotive New Model Logistics Specialist I to join our team at American Honda Motor Company in Raymond, Ohio. The successful candidate will play a critical role in coordinating and executing new model project parts, white body, and complete vehicle shipping and logistics activities across manufacturing, quality, production, and suppliers.
The role involves specialising in achieving on-time delivery targets to internal and external customers, including the Japan organisation, which are critical to the success of new model launches. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of logistics and supply chain management, excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate domestic and international transportation modes (truck, air, ocean, rail) based on cost, timing, and regulatory constraints.
- Ensure all shipments meet program timelines for manufacturing, testing, and development builds.
- Support KPI reporting (on-time delivery, damage rate, customs hold, freight cost per unit, etc.).
- Prepare, review, and validate all required export/import documentation and fulfil hazmat requirements.
- Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, and program teams to align design change levels and logistics with build schedules.
- Support the New Model Engineering Project Manager (NM E-PM) to manage trial event unit requests to support SED requirements for new model development.
- Issue NM E-PM-created production instructions to direct the ordering, production, and fabrication of parts necessary to build new model trial event units.
- Support the NM E-PM in the identification, tracking, control, and resolution of critical trial event concerns or known issues and report to the team during the NM trial event.
- Facilitate the management of shipping/logistics problem item documentation (problem report), responsibility, and closure in achievement of project targets, coordinating with each problem PICs.
- Support the NM E-PM for new model evaluation preparation, including documentation creation, room reservations and scheduling, and other evaluation-related administrative tasks.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in business or equivalent work experience.
- At least 3 years of related new model experience with a Bachelor's degree. 6 years of additional related experience may be substituted for a Bachelor's degree or combination of the same.
- MS Office, communication - public speaking/presentation skills, problem-solving and decision-making, project management qualifications are optional.
