Grade 6 Social Studies Teacher (26-27 SY)

Challenge Preparatory Charter School seeks a Grade 6 Social Studies Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The teacher will deliver exceptional instruction, assess student growth, and provide academic and cultural support to students.

Responsibilities:

• Assume a high level of personal responsibility for the progress of all students
• Create academically rigorous and culturally relevant lesson plans, materials, and assessments
• Execute specially designed lesson plans that focus on conceptual understanding and student mastery
• Teach engaging, rigorous, and relevant lessons daily
• Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, including students, families, and staff
• Commit to a school culture of consistency by implementing school-wide systems and procedures
• Reflect on various data sources to improve practice
• Take on a proactive role in creating a positive, structured, and results-oriented school environment
• Collaborate with colleagues to create, implement, and refine schoolwide and classroom-based systems
• Ensure effective classroom management and develop strong relationships with students
• Develop, implement, and manage individualized behavioral intervention plans
• Actively participate in opportunities to strengthen pedagogical skills and contribute to the learning of colleagues

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Education or History-related field
• New York State Teaching Certification
• Strong understanding of History and its application to real-world problems
• Experience working with high school-aged children in an academic or youth development setting
• Exceptional patience and focus to overcome challenges and achieve results
• Strong classroom management skills and ability to set high expectations
• Detail-oriented and highly organized
