Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at American Honda Motor Company in Raymond, Ohio. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will collaborate with cross-functional divisions to develop automotive body structures and components that meet or exceed customer expectations while balancing vehicle performance, styling, marketability, manufacturing, profitability, and other design constraints.

Responsibilities include:

• Creating and managing 3D models, component layouts, and detailed 2D engineering drawings using CATIA to support vehicle and component development
• Collaborating with internal stakeholders, including design teams, test departments, styling studios, manufacturing facilities, purchasing, and other cross-functional groups to ensure alignment and successful project execution
• Leading supplier part development activities by establishing design targets, reviewing progress, and confirming the ability to meet quality, cost, performance, and timing requirements
• Supporting component and vehicle verification activities, analyzing test results, and developing countermeasures to address design or validation concerns
• Estimating, monitoring, and managing part cost, weight, and investment throughout the development process, including reviewing and evaluating supplier quotations

Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 0 to 2 years of relevant engineering experience
• Recent graduates with internship, co-op, or project experience are encouraged to apply

Working conditions:

• Majority of work is performed in an office environment
• Some interaction in test lab, fabrication, and manufacturing environments
• 5-10 hours/week overtime as needed
• Some domestic and limited international travel
