Description
We're seeking an Industrial Engineer to join our Rolling Stock department at Eurostar's Temple Mills depot in Leyton.
As an Industrial Engineer, you will be responsible for continually improving the maintenance of the Eurostar fleet, ensuring that maintenance tasks meet regulatory, safety, operational, and technical standards throughout their lifecycle, and can be delivered efficiently.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development, review, and continuous improvement of Vehicle Maintenance Instructions (VMIs), ensuring maintenance activities are safe, compliant, and operationally efficient.
- Manage and maintain fleet maintenance schedules, star charts, and associated asset management records, ensuring documentation remains accurate and up to date.
- Drive maintenance optimisation initiatives that improve fleet reliability, reduce downtime, and support increased train availability.
- Collaborate with engineering teams, depot operations, suppliers, and international maintenance locations to ensure maintenance plans are practical and consistently delivered.
- Support the development, selection, and implementation of specialised tooling, equipment, and maintenance methods.
- Lead continuous improvement workshops and process reviews using methodologies such as 5S, Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM), and visual management techniques.
- Conduct maintenance risk assessments, identify hazards, and ensure appropriate mitigations are implemented in line with safety and regulatory requirements.
- Provide engineering support through participation in the on-call rota and contribute to maintenance change management activities.
Requirements:
- HNC, HND, or degree-level qualification in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- 5+ years' experience in rolling stock maintenance, with strong hands-on knowledge of rail vehicle systems and maintenance practices.
- Proven experience developing, reviewing, or improving maintenance procedures, technical instructions, or maintenance schedules.
- Strong understanding of maintenance optimisation, reliability improvement, and continuous improvement methodologies such as RCM, 5S, or Lean principles.
- Knowledge of railway safety regulations, risk assessment processes, and Entity in Charge of Maintenance (ECM) requirements.
- Experience working with maintenance management and asset management systems to manage technical documentation and maintenance records.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering and operational teams.
- Occupational Risk Assessor qualification or experience in undertaking maintenance-related risk assessments would be advantageous.
