Description
Cricut is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to shape the data foundation behind its product analytics, personalization, and AI initiatives.
The successful candidate will own and evolve the company's event data platform, from app instrumentation through streaming and batch ingestion to the warehouse. They will also build pipelines and feature infrastructure that feed recommendation systems and machine learning models.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing, building, and operating scalable batch and streaming pipelines on AWS using Airflow, Glue, Kafka, S3, and Redshift
- Leading the evolution of the product event platform, including schema design, event taxonomy, versioning, and migrations to next-generation event architecture
- Building event data quality and observability, including schema validation, instrumentation testing, anomaly detection, and lineage across pipelines
- Handling late-arriving and out-of-order data correctly
- Building and maintaining data foundations for personalization and recommendation systems
- Partnering with ML engineers to build feature pipelines and a batch plus low-latency feature store
- Supporting ML workflows on AWS Batch and SageMaker
- Instrumenting and modeling data for new AI-powered product experiences
- Developing well-designed fact and dimension models that power BI and ad-hoc exploration
- Tuning warehouse performance and cost
- Setting engineering standards for code review, testing, CI/CD, documentation, and on-call practices
The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of experience in data engineering, strong SQL and Python skills, and deep hands-on experience with AWS data services.
