Technical Expert, FNV Diagnostics Cloud

We are seeking a Technical Expert to join our diagnostics cloud team at Ford of Canada. You will work on developing Java micro-services that handle business-critical tasks such as connected vehicle diagnostics data ingestion, diagnostics data searchability, bulk log searches, stack trace generation, and automated Jira creation. These services manage a high throughput of 100 events/s with large metadata and log payloads.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities for this position include:

• Identifying and eliminating critical bottlenecks across complex system architectures to enhance system performance and reliability.

• Leading the definition and evolution of high-level architectural designs for new projects and significant enhancements to existing systems, ensuring scalability, robustness, and alignment with long-term technical vision.

• Driving advanced optimization strategies for micro-service ecosystems to reduce compute resource consumption and deliver cost efficiencies.

• Architecting and developing impactful user-facing features that improve the productivity and diagnostic capabilities of Ford engineers.

• Defining and implementing initiatives to improve stack trace generation success rates for software process crash data.

• Designing and implementing post-processing activities such as transcription, DID decoding, or others to enhance data value for Ford engineers.

• Fostering collaboration and architecting integrations between embedded/vehicle-side diagnostics teams and the cloud team.

• Providing technical leadership and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers and performing high-quality code reviews.

Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field of study.

Experience:

• Minimum 8+ years of software development experience (in C#, Java, or similar).

• Adept background in relational databases (such as SQL server).

• Proficient understanding of algorithmic complexity and a focus on writing high-performing software/efficient code.

• Experience in software design.

• Excellent debugging skills and the ability to solve problems independently.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with the ELK stack (particularly the “E” and “L” parts).

• Experience with web UI design, HTML, and JavaScript.

• Data analysis experience.

• Experience with Grafana or similar tools.
