Description
The Manager of Engineering - Autonomous Pilot Integration leads a team of autonomy engineers working on launched effects programs, owning their delivery, growth, and technical health. The team combines capabilities from various departments to develop and integrate autonomy software for small, often air- or ground-launched platforms that operate in multi-agent fleets and frequently in disconnected or air-gapped environments.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading a small-to-mid-sized engineering team
- Growing the team through hiring and mentoring engineers
- Developing and integrating autonomy software solutions onto launched effects platforms
- Providing technical leadership and setting technical direction
- Collaborating with various teams and partners
- Designing and documenting technical aspects of the project
- Preparing for pre-deployment and testing
- Supporting on-site test and mission activities
- Debugging hardware and software issues
- Capturing mission data and supporting debrief activities
- Continuously improving integration timelines and team efficiency
The ideal candidate has a BS/MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or similar, with 7+ years of related experience and 2+ years of direct people-management experience. They should have experience with launched effects, loitering munitions, and expendable autonomous systems, as well as strong proficiency in C++ and Linux-based development.
