Senior Software Engineer, Singpass

GovTech is the lead agency driving Singapore's Smart Nation initiatives and public sector digital transformation.

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Singpass team, you will play a crucial role in building and maintaining Singapore's national digital identity system, one of the most critical and widely used digital platforms in the country.

Responsibilities:

• Build prototypes to assess new capabilities with security and feasibility in mind
• Design and evolve architectures that meet stringent requirements for reliability, resilience, and cybersecurity
• Write secure, high-quality, production-ready code
• Manage cloud deployments with a focus on operational safety and system integrity
• Conduct maintenance and monitoring to uphold high uptime and service stability

In addition to the above, more experienced software engineers will be expected to:

• Establish engineering, reliability, and secure-by-design best practices
• Drive technical leadership across multiple teams and products
• Mentor engineers while elevating our security and reliability culture
• Support technical hiring and capability development
• Lead cross-agency discussions on architecture, cybersecurity, and risk mitigation

We value strong engineering fundamentals over specific programming languages. Our systems use a variety of technologies, and we select tools based on technical and security requirements.

• Think clearly about abstract problems, with strong debugging and reasoning skills
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with engineers, policy officers, UX teams, cybersecurity specialists, and partner agencies
