Senior Android Developer

We're seeking a Senior Android Developer to lead the evolution of our native Android news platform, powering branded apps for 50+ TEGNA stations. You'll build new features, mentor teammates, tackle performance challenges, and set the technical direction for the app.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and ship features for our native Android app using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
• Own significant areas of the codebase and serve as a key resource for investigating and resolving complex product issues.
• Write efficient, reusable, and reliable code within a Clean Architecture, multi-module structure.
• Identify performance bottlenecks and drive solutions.
• Mentor other developers through code review, pairing, and technical guidance.
• Collaborate with developers, designers, and product/business managers to translate requirements into well-architected solutions.
• Help maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines and release processes.
• Rapidly learn new technologies and adapt to changing business and customer needs.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of professional software development experience, including 3+ years building native Android applications with Kotlin.
• Hands-on experience with Jetpack Compose and modern Android UI development.
• Solid understanding of app architecture patterns and separation of concerns.
• Experience with Kotlin Coroutines and Flow for asynchronous and reactive programming.
• Experience with dependency injection.
• Experience consuming RESTful APIs and working with JSON.
• Experience with local persistence.
• Proficient with Git and code versioning workflows.
• Understanding of design principles behind scalable, maintainable applications.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative, team-first attitude.
