Producer

WVEC-TV, a TEGNA-owned affiliate in Norfolk, VA, is seeking a Producer to shape daily newscasts. The successful candidate will build and execute engaging shows that educate and inform audiences across platforms.

Responsibilities:

• Pitch compelling stories and lead the newscast process from ideation to execution
• Craft and produce stories across platforms for diverse audiences, focusing on quality, accuracy, and engagement
• Build comprehensive rundowns and select production elements to control the show's look and feel
• Collaborate with newsroom leadership and producers to ensure editorial consistency and technical quality
• Lead continuous, live coverage of breaking news and community events
• Innovate in show design and storytelling with guidance from supervisors
• Apply data analytics to shape content and boost engagement
• Commit to inclusive storytelling by amplifying underrepresented voices

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field preferred
• 1-3 years of news content experience, ideally with show production experience
• Strong organisational skills and excellent communication skills
• Ability to maintain composure during breaking news and high-stakes events
• Proficiency in news production tools and willingness to learn new systems
• Knowledge of vMix, Edius, or similar production platforms is beneficial

Salary Range: $24.04-$25 USD
