Description
We are seeking a Naval Structural Designer to join our team in Newport News, VA. As a member of our multidisciplinary Ship Design team, you will be responsible for producing detailed structural 2D drawings, 3D models, and 2D assembly drawings for naval, coast guard, and commercial ships.
Responsibilities:
- Develop structural 3D models and 2D assembly drawings using ShipConstructor
- Prepare accurate and detailed designs, free-form surface models, and drawings based on concept sketches and functional requirements
- Collaborate with clients, naval architects, and engineers to produce high-quality ship design products and drawings
Qualifications:
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret security clearance
- Associate's degree or 3+ years of relevant experience
- 3+ years of experience with structural design, 3D modeling, and 2D drawing development
- Proficient in AutoCAD and MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Experience working in the shipbuilding industry
- Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Structural design experience on naval and/or commercial shipbuilding programs
- Experience with ShipConstructor and PDF editing programs
- Knowledge of standards and regulatory body requirements, shipyard production/fabrication practices, and welding symbols
