Lead UI Engineer (Apex Legends)

Join Respawn Entertainment as a Lead UI Engineer on the Apex Legends team. You will lead and manage a team of UI Engineers, own the technical quality, delivery, and maintenance of core UI tools and engine systems, collaborate with UX, UI Art, and UI Tech Design to develop new tools and features, mentor and coach UI engineers, identify and elevate technical risks, and collaborate with stakeholders to develop the long-term strategy for Apex UI tech.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage a team of UI Engineers
• Own the technical quality, delivery, and maintenance of core UI tools and engine systems
• Collaborate with UX, UI Art, and UI Tech Design to develop new tools, engine systems, and features meeting UI needs
• Mentor and coach UI engineers to develop and maintain a high-performing team
• Identify and elevate technical risks to stakeholders and UI Tech Leadership
• Collaborate with XD Tech Leadership to develop long-term strategy for Apex UI tech
• Collaborate with production to scope work and align roadmaps with stakeholders
• Review code submissions to ensure standards and best practices are followed

Qualifications:

• 6+ years of software engineering experience
• 1+ years of experience managing people
• Experience developing UI systems and collaborating with UI/UX teams
• Experience shipping a AAA game or multiple Live Ops releases
• Proficiency in C++ and one or more scripting languages

Nice to Haves:

• Experience developing UI features in AAA, multiplayer, FPS games
• Knowledge of Apex Legends and Battle Royale competitors
