Description
We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Associate Director, Software Engineering.
Principal responsibilities:
- Own the technical direction, architecture and engineering roadmap for the financial-planning platform in partnership with Product, Business and Architecture teams.
- Lead by example through hands-on design, development, code review, debugging and resolution of complex production issues.
- Design and deliver scalable, secure and resilient microservices and AI capabilities, including APIs, event-driven integration, AI agents, tool use, retrieval and orchestration.
- Apply AI and agentic workflows across requirements, development, testing, documentation and release processes to improve delivery speed, quality, automation and cost efficiency.
- Establish engineering and AI-development standards covering automated testing, CI/CD, evaluation, guardrails, observability, security and responsible use of AI.
- Own delivery from requirements clarification to production, managing priorities, dependencies, technical debt, risks and stakeholder expectations.
- Coach engineers, build a strong engineering culture and create reusable patterns and guidelines that help other teams adopt emerging technologies effectively.
Requirements:
- Deep hands-on expertise in either Java or Python, with substantial experience designing and delivering production-grade software.
- Proven technical leadership experience, including setting technical direction, leading complex delivery and developing engineers in a global team environment.
- Practical experience with generative AI or agentic systems, such as LLM integration, RAG, tool use, orchestration, evaluation and guardrails.
- Experience applying AI-enabled development practices to achieve measurable improvements in engineering productivity, quality or automation.
- Strong knowledge of microservices, APIs, event-driven architecture, distributed systems, PostgreSQL, automated testing and CI/CD.
- Ability to translate business requirements into incremental production outcomes and clearly communicate technical options, risks and trade-offs to business and technology stakeholders.
- A growth mindset and the ability to evaluate emerging technologies, turn experiments into production capabilities and balance innovation with security, resilience and regulatory controls.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
