Description
Electronic Arts is looking for a Server Engineer to work on an unannounced 3A project. The successful candidate will develop and maintain backend services and systems that power game features and live operations.
Responsibilities:
- Resolve game server technical issues and help deliver stable, scalable, and reliable backend services.
- Develop new features and maintain existing systems using TypeScript, Node.js, MongoDB, gRPC, and related technologies.
- Interpret game design and business requirements and implement backend systems and platform integrations.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, producers, and game designers to deliver the overall vision of the game.
- Maintain code quality through code reviews, testing, monitoring, and bug fixing.
- Integrate and maintain third-party libraries, SDKs, and platform services.
- Work closely with publishing partners to support live-service operations and ensure service stability.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 7+ years of software development experience, preferably in the video game industry with live-service experience.
- Strong proficiency in Node.js, JavaScript, and/or TypeScript.
- Experience developing backend systems and game services using modern web technologies, gRPC, and/or RESTful APIs.
- Experience operating and supporting live services in large-scale Kubernetes environments.
- Experience designing and developing scalable distributed systems and backend services.
- Demonstrated understanding of software engineering best practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues.
- Experience shipping at least one commercial video game title; live-service experience is a plus.
Additional Skills:
- Experience with Redis, MongoDB, or similar data technologies is a plus.
- Experience designing, developing, or operating microservices architecture (MSA) systems is a plus.
- Familiarity with cloud-native technologies and containerized service deployment is a plus.
- Proficiency with modern AI-assisted and agentic engineering tools.
