Description
Stripe is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) to lead our regulatory compliance, financial crimes and enterprise risk officers and program across EMEA.
You will be the principal decision-maker and strategic lead on financial crimes, regulatory compliance and enterprise risk management for EMEA, serving a critical role in ensuring Stripe's continued safe growth in the region.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a robust and scalable compliance strategy for EMEA, aligning with global FinCRO objectives and business goals.
- Team Management: Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team of compliance, risk management and financial crimes professionals across EMEA.
- AML/Financial Crimes Program Oversight: Own and enhance the regional AML, counter-terrorist financing, sanctions, and anti-bribery and corruption (ABC) programs for EMEA.
- Regulatory Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for financial regulators across EMEA and an ambassador to the industry in the region.
- Partner and Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with key financial partners.
- Advisory and Consultation: Ensure Stripe's global regulatory compliance, financial crimes and enterprise risk management frameworks, policies, and controls are fit for purpose for local requirements.
- Governance and Reporting: Mature the regional governance framework to streamline decision-making and focus oversight on the areas of greatest regulatory and business risk.
Requirements
- 12+ years of experience in compliance and financial crime, with significant focus on financial services, fintech, or payments.
- Extensive people management experience, including leading geographically dispersed teams.
- Deep and current knowledge of regulatory compliance and AML/financial crime requirements across key EMEA markets.
- Demonstrated experience interacting directly with financial regulators in EMEA.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex regulatory concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to think strategically and translate complex regulatory requirements into practical, scalable business solutions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
Preferred Qualifications
- CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist) or other relevant professional certifications.
- Experience working in a global, matrixed organization spanning multiple regulatory regimes.
