Substitute Teacher

We are seeking a Substitute Teacher to provide day-to-day teaching coverage at our Point Loma campus.

As a Substitute Teacher at High Tech High, you will be responsible for preparing lesson plans and educating students under the general supervision and guidance of the School Director. Your duties will include assigning homework, grading tests, and documenting progress. You must be able to command your classroom and reach students with an engaging project-based curriculum.

Responsibilities:

• Embody High Tech High's design principles of Equity, Personalization, Authentic Work, and Collaborative Design in all work activities and actions
• Create daily lesson plans with project-based assignments that are engaging, educational, and exciting for the kids
• Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences
• Incorporate goals, competencies, and objectives into lesson plans in ways that directly apply to the student's life
• Achieve school and course-wide performance goals for every student in class
• Grade assignments and homework regularly to keep students updated on how they are doing
• Identify students who are struggling with learning, emotional problems, or situations at home, and find them the resources they need

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree
• A valid California K-12 teaching credential (may include a 30-day Substitute Permit or a Teaching Permit for Statutory Leave)
• Ability to efficiently and effectively manage the time of self and others
• Ability to work with professionalism, discretion, sound judgment, equity, honesty, and personal accountability at all times
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Exceptional administrative and organization skills
• Proficient knowledge of teaching strategies and methods
• Critical thinking skills

Salary: $23.46/hour

This is an hourly position and does not include benefits.
