Anchor/MSJ

WLTX-TV, the CBS affiliate in Columbia, S.C., is seeking a skilled journalist to join our team as an Anchor and Multi-skilled Journalist.

The successful candidate will be dedicated to local storytelling, turning enterprise stories for newscasts, and have the instinct to follow up on news tips and respond to breaking news in a timely manner.

Responsibilities:

• Anchor weekend newscasts and fill-in anchor on an as-needed basis during the week
• Collaborate with producers to create engaging newscasts, write and copy edit content daily
• Generate unique story ideas and compelling content
• Craft creative segments and present them during newscasts
• Utilise social media for news gathering, community engagement, and developing contacts
• Contribute to multiple platforms daily, including writing for the website, posting on social media, and creating content for mobile
• Develop contacts and relationships within the community

Requirements:

• Journalism or Mass Communication degree with at least two years of experience preferred
• Strong on-camera delivery with the ability to ad-lib
• Excellent writing, packaging, and live skills
• Ability to shoot and edit stories
• Knowledge of Cuez and Edius
• Ability to meet deadlines and work in high-pressure situations
