Description
We are seeking an Aftercare - Expanded Learning Assistant to join our team at High Tech Middle Chula Vista Campus. As an Expanded Learning Assistant, you will play a unique role as a mentor, tutor, activity leader, and sports coach. You will supervise school-aged children indoors and outdoors, maintain an orderly, safe, and organized environment for the students, take attendance, plan and run engaging student activities, assist students with virtual learning activities and homework assignments, and implement emergency procedures.
The after-school program is an important element of the school day experience, providing a safe and quiet place for students to study or receive extra tutoring, as well as enrichment opportunities during our regularly scheduled school year afterschool programming.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise school-aged children indoors and outdoors
- Maintain an orderly, safe, and organized environment for the students
- Take attendance to ensure that all students are accounted for
- Plan, develop and run engaging student activities
- Assist students with virtual learning activities and homework assignments
- Understand and implement emergency procedures, including safety protocols
- Perform related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- Experience working with students
- Ability to work well with school-aged students
- Comfortable leading enrichment activities with students
- Inform and communicate effectively
- Ability to work with diverse populations
Working Conditions:
- Indoor and outdoor setting
- Physical Abilities: sitting or standing for extended periods of time, hearing and speaking to communicate and exchange information, seeing to observe accuracy of reports and documents, dexterity of hand and finger to operate office equipment, bending at the waist, kneeling, and reaching overhead, above shoulders and horizontally to retrieve and store files and other items as needed.
