Description
Join the High Power Engineering team at SpaceXAI to design, build, operate, and maintain electrical infrastructure for AI training campuses. As an Ops/Build Engineer on the Transmission & Distribution team, you will work on-site in Memphis, TN, to scale high-capacity power systems driven by compute demand.
Responsibilities:
- Commission high- and medium-voltage assets from installation to operational reliability.
- Develop and execute substation and transmission energization plans, including pre-energization checks and load ramp staging.
- Conduct NETA acceptance testing on electrical systems and equipment.
- Perform relay end-to-end testing, SCADA verification, and coordination with utilities.
- Implement electrical safety programs, including arc-flash labeling and energized work permits.
- Manage transformer oil programs, breaker maintenance, and fault investigations post-energization.
- Collaborate with construction teams, vendors, and technicians for continuous improvements.
- Ensure compliance with NFPA, NESC, and IEEE standards.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, physics, or related field, or 8+ years of substation field experience.
- 5+ years of experience in substation commissioning, testing, or utility operations on high-power systems.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Experience with high-voltage equipment energization and switching.
- Familiarity with relay test sets like Doble F6150 or Omicron CMC.
- NETA Level III or IV certification.
- Experience with SEL relay families and NERC PRC compliance testing.
- Strong troubleshooting and team leadership skills.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to work hands-on in various environments and at heights.
- Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, and provide 24/7 on-call support.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel up to 25%.
