Silicon Engineer

Anthropic's mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems.

You will be part of a small team covering a large surface, focusing on areas such as front-end design, pre-silicon verification, physical design, and more.

Key responsibilities:

• Take part in end-to-end activities for the program: strategy, specification, execution, and technical bar.
• Write specifications and interface definitions that others design against.
• Make and own directional calls: technology and IP selection, design authority, and partnerships.
• Build and share AI-assisted approaches to code-like parts of your domain.
• Contribute to architecture and micro-architecture discussions.
• Partner with Anthropic's inference, performance, kernels, and infrastructure teams on hardware-software co-design.
• Support first-silicon bring-up and debug.

Minimum qualifications:

• Deep expertise in at least one silicon domain.
• Direct personal contribution to silicon that taped out and shipped.
• Working fluency in adjacent domains.
• Experience working with external partners.
• Track record of owning directional technical decisions.
• Practical experience using AI coding tools.
• Clear written and verbal communication.
• Comfort operating with high autonomy.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience on machine learning accelerators or high-performance compute.
• Experience on a founding or early-stage silicon team.
• Familiarity with chip-package-system interface.
• Experience with hardware-software co-design.
• Experience building or extending AI-assisted design flows.

The annual compensation range for this role is $320,000-$485,000 USD.
