As a Lead Backend Engineer, you will guide a team of engineers, designing and building Python microservices for our insurance platform, focusing on security, observability, and scalability.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead engineers within a team, guiding their work towards user value and business opportunity
- Design, build, and own Python microservices for our insurance platform
- Drive architectural discussions and decisions across multiple teams
- Deliver large-scale technical initiatives end-to-end
- Coach and mentor engineers to improve team performance
- Improve team workflows, including CI/CD pipelines and incident response
Requirements:
- Deep backend expertise with hands-on experience in cloud-native microservices, preferably with Python
- Experience building distributed architectures and understanding performance tuning and observability
- Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and system design
- Ability to lead by example through mentoring and clear communication
- Proactive collaboration with non-technical stakeholders
- Daily use of AI tools with a willingness to learn and experiment
