As a System Software Engineer – L2/L3 Packet Forwarding, you will primarily work from an HPE office. You will work on products deployed in some of the world's largest enterprises, solve challenging problems in networking, systems, cloud, virtualization, and scale, learn from industry-leading networking and systems experts, build deep expertise in Datapath, Forwarding Plane, Linux Internals, and Cloud Networking, and grow into architecture and technical leadership roles while influencing the future of enterprise networking.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and developing high-performance software for Aruba's enterprise WLAN Controller platforms
- Building and enhancing forwarding plane/datapath infrastructure for scale, reliability, and performance
- Working across Linux systems, embedded software, networking protocols, cloud infrastructure, and distributed systems
- Debugging and optimizing complex networking, performance, and scalability issues
- Developing solutions spanning on-prem appliances, virtualized environments, and public cloud deployments
- Collaborating with architects and senior engineers to shape the future of enterprise networking
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- 3-8 years of experience in Systems, Networking, Embedded, Infrastructure, or Cloud software development
- Strong expertise in C/C++ programming, Linux Systems Programming, Socket Programming, Multithreading & Concurrency, IPC, Shared Memory, Synchronization, System Calls & Debugging, TCP/IP Networking Fundamentals, Routing, Switching & Network Protocols, and Performance Analysis & Troubleshooting
- Experience in any of the following is highly desirable: Forwarding Plane / Datapath Development, WLAN Technologies & Controllers, Linux Kernel & Driver Development, NPU / Network Acceleration Technologies, Virtualization (KVM, VMware), Containers & Cloud-Native Networking, AWS / Azure / Multi-Cloud Platforms, Distributed Systems Architecture, Python, Go, Java, Scala, CI/CD, Performance, Scale System Debugging
