As a Software Engineer III on the FC Mobile team, you'll help shape the technical foundation that powers the world's most popular mobile football experience. You will act as a key technical standard-bearer for the web stack, partnering directly with the Technical Director to propose and refine operational excellence while collaborating with the Lead Engineer to ensure seamless feature execution.
Responsibilities:
- Technical Leadership & Operations:
+ Act as a key technical standard-bearer for the web stack. Enforce coding standards, contribute heavily to architecture discussions, and conduct rigorous code reviews to ensure performance, security, and maintainability before shipping. + Proactively analyze system performance and identify bottlenecks. Propose and justify new technical or operational KPIs to the Technical Director, and help establish the monitoring pipelines to track them. + Leverage your architectural knowledge of HTML5 Canvas (2D/WebGL) and GSAP to guide the team in building smooth, high-performance, and lightweight visual elements within embedded mobile webviews. + Design and develop robust web systems built on the MERN stack, focusing on database efficiency, caching via Redis, and ultra-low latency under high-concurrency, live-service loads. + Partner with product owners and technical stakeholders during the planning phase to assess technical risks, evaluate implementation feasibility, and outline mitigation strategies before coding begins.
- Delivery Collaboration:
+ Collaborate closely with the Lead Engineer to align on execution plans, technical task breakdowns, and high-impact feature delivery. + Provide accurate technical complexity estimates, de-risk execution paths, and take hands-on ownership of coding the most complex, high-traffic backend/API and frontend components. + Provide day-to-day technical mentorship and hands-on guidance to SE I and SE II engineers, helping elevate the technical bar across the team.
Qualifications:
- Core Requirements:
+ 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a solid history of delivering robust web systems. + Strong, production-proven experience with React.js and Node.js (MERN stack). + Experience conducting thorough code reviews, establishing best practices, and mentoring junior/mid-level developers to maintain high code quality. + Exceptional debugging, performance-profiling, and troubleshooting skills across both frontend and backend layers. + Strong communication skills with a track record of partnering successfully with Lead Engineers, Product Owners, or Technical Directors to align on technical directions. + Exposure to scaling web applications, including using caching strategies with Redis or handling high-concurrency environments.
- Preferred Qualifications:
+ Prior experience developing and optimizing web pages to run smoothly inside mobile webviews or resource-constrained mobile browsers. + Familiarity or prior experience with HTML5 Canvas (2D/WebGL) and animation libraries (like GSAP or PixiJS) is a major advantage.
Benefits: + Comprehensive approach to benefits programs, focusing on physical, emotional, financial, professional, and social well-being. + Locally tailored packages may include healthcare, mental health support, retirement funds, paid and family leaves, free games, and many other perks.
