Description
We are seeking a Principal BIM Engineer specializing in Plant and Piping design for Water and Wastewater projects, with a strong focus on Digital Delivery.
The role involves close coordination with design engineers and digital teams across India and New Zealand, supporting project delivery through high-quality CAD and 3D modelling outputs.
The Principal BIM Engineer will take ownership of 3D modelling, drafting, and preparation of design documentation for water supply and wastewater infrastructure, including treatment plants, pump stations, and associated piping networks.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering Plant & Piping CAD and BIM outputs for water and wastewater infrastructure projects
- Preparing 2D and 3D deliverables using AutoCAD and Plant 3D
- Developing, managing, and maintaining federated BIM models
- Coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver integrated and constructible design outcomes
- Mentoring and guiding junior and intermediate CAD staff
Required technical and soft skills:
- Strong experience in Plant & Piping design for Water and Wastewater infrastructure
- Advanced proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD and Plant 3D
- Ability to interpret engineering inputs, specifications, vendor data, and survey information
- Good understanding of CAD/Digital Delivery standards and international design standards
- Experience working in multi-disciplinary and cross-regional project environments
- Strong communication, coordination, and collaboration skills
Software proficiencies:
- AutoCAD Plant 3D & BIM coordination
- AutoCAD (2D), Navisworks, Revit, and Civil 3D
- Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) and BIM 360 platforms
- Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Qualifications:
- Minimum qualification of a bachelor’s degree in civil or mechanical engineering, or (B.Tech or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline
Experience:
- 12–18 years of proven experience in water supply and wastewater utility projects
- Experience in utilities water, wastewater, recycled water pipeline projects
