As a Director on the Financial Services Legal Team, you will apply your strategic and analytical skills to major challenges and significant business initiatives as a member of Capital One’s Financial Services (“FS”) Division.
You will serve in a key role supporting and advising the business in our pursuit to dream, disrupt, and deliver solutions for consumers, dealers, and partners.
Within this role, you’ll be a true counselor to the business and have the opportunity to advise the best sales team in the industry as well as leaders, analysts, product managers, and designers across FS who are tasked with developing innovative strategies and products designed to help Capital One win in the market.

Responsibilities:
- Strategic Advice: Understand the auto finance business, technology, and rapidly evolving landscapes, fostering innovation through an understanding of applicable laws, and charting a course for rolling out, marketing, and selling innovative products.
- Translating: Understand the law (e.g., data privacy, IP, antitrust, TILA/Reg Z, ECOA/Reg B, FCRA/Reg V, UDAAP), the business and auto industry, and technology (AI, APIs, OSS, machine learning).
- Business Ownership: Work hand-in-hand with the business to solve problems in flight, with an ownership mindset and a “learning mindset”.
- Partnering to Foster Innovation: Collaborate closely with colleagues across the Legal Department to fully vet and scale risk.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- Active member in good standing of at least one state bar
- At least 7 years of experience as an attorney in a law firm, in-house legal department, or government agency
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience advising financial services or technology companies
- 5+ years of experience working as an attorney on matters related to auto finance, product development, technology, and AI
- Experience advising companies on matters of regulatory compliance, including UDAAP, FCRA, GLBA, ECOA, and TILA
Salary: $209,500 - $239,100 per year
