RN Clinical Nurse II - Cardiovascular Surgical Intensive Care (CSICU)

Join the 10-bed CSICU team at UNC Rex Heart & Vascular Hospital, providing specialized care to critically ill patients recovering from complex cardiovascular surgeries. As a Clinical Nurse II, you will provide evidence-based care to high-acuity cardiovascular patients, care for patients requiring ECMO, mechanical circulatory support, and advanced hemodynamic monitoring, recognize and respond to changes in patient conditions, collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes, and educate patients and families while supporting teamwork and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Provide competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards
• Participate in identifying and meeting learning needs of self and patients
• Evaluate patient care and communicate relevant information to promote continuity of care
• Implement care plans and prioritize tasks for patients with complex problems
• Lead and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to achieve patient outcomes
• Assess patient needs and develop relationships with families
• Participate in research and stay up-to-date with latest studies and articles

Requirements

• Current RN license and BLS certification
• ACLS certification or willingness to obtain per unit requirements
• At least one year of nursing experience
• Preferred: ICU, CVICU, or surgical critical care experience; familiarity with ECMO, ventilator management, and advanced hemodynamic monitoring
