Junior Composite Designer (Tooling)

We're seeking a motivated Junior tool design engineer to join our team in Faenza, Italy. As a Junior Composite Designer (Tooling), you will be responsible for designing and developing composite tooling solutions, including patterns, moulds, jigs, fixtures, and manufacturing aids, to support the production of F1 car components.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop composite tooling solutions, focusing on manufacturability, efficiency, and quality
• Collaborate with Composite and Mechanical Design Engineers to enable parallel progression of component and tooling design
• Act as technical owner of tooling design, ensuring solutions are optimised for manufacturability, ease of use, and durability
• Drive standardisation and reuse of tooling concepts, components, and methodologies
• Work closely with Production, CAD/CAM, and Manufacturing Engineering teams to ensure tooling designs align with manufacturing processes and factory constraints
• Identify and resolve tooling-related issues arising during manufacture, build, and part production
• Establish and maintain strong feedback loops from production and inspection to continuously improve tooling design quality and efficiency

Requirements:

• University degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
• Previous working or Formula SAE experience in tooling design for composite manufacturing
• Strong academic knowledge of composite materials and manufacturing processes
• Good understanding of tooling design principles, including dimensional control, tolerancing, and material selection
• Proficiency in CAD design using Siemens NX or similar CAD systems
• Familiarity with CAD/CAM integration and manufacturing workflows
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
• Ability to work under pressure to achieve targets and deliver results within required timescales
• High level of attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Proficiency in both English and Italian (written and spoken)
