Description
As a Senior Civil Engineer (Nuclear) at WSP, you will play a crucial role in delivering infrastructure for major nuclear projects, including new builds, operations, asset care, and decommissioning.
You will work alongside experts in various engineering disciplines to solve complex infrastructure challenges, contributing to projects from early feasibility to detailed design and delivery.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering and reviewing civil engineering designs for nuclear projects
- Developing civil engineering solutions for site development, roads, drainage, and structures
- Taking responsibility for defined civil engineering work packages
- Undertaking feasibility studies, optioneering, and concept design activities
- Coordinating civil engineering designs with other engineering requirements
- Preparing and reviewing calculations, specifications, and technical reports
- Supporting design coordination, programme management, and resource planning
- Applying relevant standards, procedures, and quality requirements in highly regulated environments
- Working with clients, stakeholders, and delivery partners to resolve technical challenges
- Mentoring and providing guidance to graduate and early career engineers
- Contributing to technical improvement and knowledge sharing
Requirements:
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
- Chartered Engineer (CEng MICE) or working towards professional chartership
- Experience in delivering civil engineering projects throughout the nuclear asset lifecycle
- Experience in designing and delivering civil engineering solutions, including site development and reinforced concrete structures
- Understanding of relevant design codes and standards, including British Standards and Eurocodes
- Experience in undertaking feasibility studies, optioneering, and concept design activities
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
- Understanding of design risk management, CDM regulations, and health and safety principles
