Principal Trainer, Transmission Design and Maintenance

We are seeking a Principal Trainer, Transmission Design & Maintenance to oversee the development, scheduling, and delivery of engineering technical training for Transmission employees across Southern Company.

The successful candidate will have a BS degree or higher in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution and extensive experience with transmission design, construction, and/or maintenance.

Key responsibilities include:

• Serving as a subject matter expert (SME) for SCS Transmission Line Design, Transmission Maintenance, and Civil Design training
• Overseeing and directing the development and delivery of high-quality training materials
• Creating training aids and innovative exercises for real-world practical training opportunities
• Partnering with the broader Power Delivery Training team to share resources and support system-wide training efforts
• Identifying gaps and driving continuous improvement of the training program through feedback, evaluation, and enhancement of the learning experience

The ideal candidate will have:

• A Professional Engineer (PE) license
• Previous experience as a trainer or curriculum developer
• Comprehensive understanding of the transmission organization, operating philosophy, procedures, and roles of engineers within Transmission Line Design and Transmission Maintenance Centers
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Strong customer service skills and proven ability to work proactively and effectively with all levels of employees
• Strong organizational and project management skills
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and proactively engage with others
