Server, Food Nutrition & Services - San Marcos Campus (Temporary)

We are seeking a temporary Server to join our Food & Nutrition Services team at the San Marcos Campus. You will be responsible for serving food to students in a pleasant manner while ensuring compliance with National School Lunch Program requirements.

Job Summary Under the direction of the Food & Nutrition Services Director, you will serve food to students, ensure compliance with program requirements, and perform related duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Serve food at an assigned cafeteria, following established procedures
• Ensure safe and sanitary food handling practices
• Arrange and replenish food items according to regulations
• Assist with receiving food deliveries and maintaining records
• Ensure cleanliness of serving areas and equipment
• Perform other assigned duties

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED completion
• Minimum 1 year of food service experience
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Food Handlers Permit
• Valid California non-commercial class driver's license

Technical Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

• English language proficiency
• Basic oral and written communication skills
• Intermediate interpersonal relations and customer service skills
• Basic math and accounting skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks
• Understanding of HACCP Standard Operating Procedures

Physical Demands

• Ability to stand, stoop, reach, and bend
• Mobility of arms and dexterity of hands
• Ability to lift, push, and pull objects up to 50 pounds
• Ability to work in an indoor and outdoor environment

Work Environment

• Food service environment with exposure to heat, hot foods, and cleaning chemicals
