The Clinical Nurse III practices at the level of a competent to expert practitioner of nursing. The nurse at this level demonstrates competence in caring for patients with complex problems and clinical leadership skills through contribution to standards of care and unit goals.

Seeking Clinical Nurse III to join the UNC Youth Behavioral Health – New Day Inpatient Unit Team! We are seeking a Clinical Nurse III preferably with child and adolescent mental health experience, to join our multidisciplinary team. This position will primarily support New Day, a 15-bed inpatient unit serving adolescents in crisis with a variety of mental health diagnoses, but will be expected to work across all four units within the facility as needed.

Position Details:

• Hours: This is a 40 hour per week; 12-hour and 8-hour shift position; weekdays and weekends (preferred scheduling)
• Entity: UNC Medical Center
• Location: Butner, NC

Responsibilities:

1. Assessment - Synthesizes data from complex situations to determine priorities for care. Includes appropriate physical, psychosocial and educational needs.
2. Education - Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self and others.
3. Evaluation - Evaluates patient progress and revises plan accordingly.
4. Implementation - Demonstrates expertise in care of patients with complex problems.
5. Leadership - Develops goals to promote professional growth or minimize limitations.
6. Planning - Collaborates with patient/family to prepare or update the plan of care.
7. Research - Reads journals that contain articles and studies that are applicable to practice and discusses their feasibility of implementation with others.

Other Information: Education Requirements: ● Graduation from a state-accredited school of professional nursing. ● If hired after January 6, 2014, must be enrolled in an accredited program within four years of employment, and obtain a Bachelor's degree with a major in Nursing or a Master's degree with a major in Nursing within seven years of employment date.

Licensure/Certification Requirements: ● Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina. ● Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification

Professional Experience Requirements: ● One (1) year of nursing experience.
