Paraprofessional

As a Paraprofessional with The Menta Education Group, you will work closely with classroom instructors and staff to provide targeted teaching and support to students in the classroom, as well as general support for all students in the school.

Staff Hours: 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, following a 10-month school calendar.

Responsibilities:

• Manage classroom behaviors
• Report behavioral concerns of students to appropriate staff
• Implement and maintain behavioral program policies and data
• Maintain classroom order and safety, providing general supervision of students inside the school setting
• Assist in the prevention and management of incidents of non-compliance and/or escalation in behavior
• Maintain alertness for problems likely to disrupt the educational process or to be a safety concern, correcting and reporting these conditions
• Respond to emergency situations
• Provide interventions to students to assist in managing behaviors
• Think quickly, independently, and tactfully

Qualifications:

• Paraprofessional experience is helpful
• Ability to work with high-risk special needs students
• Security or Juvenile Justice background is helpful
• Good driving record and willingness to drive a student van is preferred
• Military Veterans are encouraged to apply
• Ability to operate tactfully under stress
• Flexibility to adapt to changes in routines
• At least 23 years of age

Compensation & Benefits:

• Salary range: USD 17.97-27.06 per hour

Additional Information: Menta Academy Bourbonnais is approved by the Illinois State Board of Education as a nonpublic educational facility for special education students in kindergarten through age 22. It offers elementary, middle, and high school programming to children with diverse learning needs.
