Description
WLTX-TV Columbia, a TEGNA affiliate, seeks a full-time IT Specialist to join the Technology team.
The ideal candidate can balance multiple ongoing projects while addressing the immediate maintenance needs of a 24/7 operation.
Responsibilities:
- Support day-to-day operations of the station, including daily news operations, equipment, and computer-based IT systems.
- Install and maintain broadcast and IT equipment at studio facilities, transmitter sites, remote broadcast vehicles, and other remote locations.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues, making repairs or implementing workarounds as needed.
- Perform routine security updates and reboots of broadcast servers.
- Contribute to technical documentation that accurately represents installed equipment.
- Occasional field work on limited remote productions.
- Minor building-related maintenance tasks occasionally required.
Requirements:
- 3-5 years of experience in IT support, including hardware and networks.
- Strong organisational, communication, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work efficiently without direct supervision.
- Solid understanding of current computer hardware, network technologies, and Microsoft's Active Directory environment.
- Ability to plan technical projects and clearly communicate the status of problems, provide updates on project progress, and offer solutions to technical issues.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Available on-call.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders and work on elevated surfaces, pull and install wiring, use hand and power tools, work on small components, and perform other physical tasks.
