Engineering Manager, Tech Foundations

As an Engineering Manager, you will lead and grow a high-performing team of engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and craftsmanship while building scalable, reliable, and impactful systems that drive Airbnb's growth.

The CRM Engineering team builds world-class tools that drive growth and foster meaningful relationships between Airbnb and its community, including Hosts, Guests, Law Enforcement, Government Regulators, Local Community Leaders, and more.

Key responsibilities:

• Technical Leadership: Define and execute the technical strategy for trust and safety initiatives, ensuring alignment with Airbnb's long-term goals.
• Team Management: Hire, mentor, and lead a high-performing engineering team.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, data scientists, and partner engineering teams to develop effective, scalable solutions.
• Project Oversight: Lead end-to-end project execution, ensuring high-quality delivery across the software development lifecycle.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Provide clear communication of project status, risks, and opportunities to senior leadership and partners.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Overall 10+ years of industry experience, including 2-5+ years in engineering management.
• Proven track record of delivering large-scale, secure, and reliable systems.
• Strong experience in leading technical strategy and building scalable engineering, data, or machine learning systems.
• Expertise in leading AI/ML teams and delivering AI-powered solutions is a strong plus.
• Proficiency in at least one major language (e.g., Java, Python, Go, Ruby).
• Demonstrated ability to hire and retain top-tier engineering talent.
• Excellent communicator - capable of bridging technical and non-technical audiences.
