Description
The Silicon One team at Cisco is looking for a SW Post-Silicon Validation Engineer to join their team. As a SW Post-Silicon Validation Engineer you will be operating at the critical junction between firmware, device drivers, and silicon validation, designing scalable software solutions, automated frameworks, and tools to stress and validate chip functionality across PVT corners.
Responsibilities:
- Develop automated regression suites for functional validation, traffic stress testing, and characterization to proactively detect and root-cause critical issues across switching and routing Silicon One devices.
- Develop and maintain Python-based test frameworks, automated test suites, and validation libraries.
- Implement software to interact with low-level device drivers, register maps, and high-speed interfaces (PCIe, Ethernet, SerDes, I2C, SPI).
- Debug hardware-software interactions and silicon anomalies in the lab alongside RTL, Firmware, Hardware and other teams.
- Analyze validation logs, parse performance datasets, and track test coverage progress through closure.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
- 3+ years of practical experience in embedded software: ASIC bring-up, test automation, or post-silicon validation.
- Solid knowledge of object-oriented programming (OOP) and design (OOD), applied to test development, data analysis, and lab equipment automation.
- Understanding of Git version control practices and collaborative workflows, including branching, merging, and code reviews.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of C/C++ for low-level driver or firmware interaction.
- Experience in validating high-speed networking ASICs or Ethernet PHYs.
- Experience working with Linux, device drivers, or memory-mapped I/O.
- Familiarity with CI/CD concepts, including how automated pipelines build, test, and run regression suites.
- Hands-on experience debugging hardware-software interactions on physical boards in a lab environment.
- Automate lab testbenches and high-speed test instruments (oscilloscopes, BERTs, power supplies, thermal chambers) using Python and VISA/SCPI.
- Familiarity with hardware communication interfaces and register maps (e.g., PCIe, Ethernet, SerDes, I2C, SPI, UART).
- Clear technical communication in English and Hebrew.
