Senior Software Engineer, Backend

Grab is Southeast Asia's leading superapp, providing various services such as ride-hailing, food deliveries, and financial management.

You will work with other experienced engineers on the team to develop backend services, ensuring the robustness of the system which provides APIs used by several mobile and web apps.

Critical Tasks

• Collaborate with product/design/business teams to understand requirements, provide product feedback, and own and implement products from start to finish.
• Lead technical discussions within engineering teams.
• Write reusable, scalable, and testable code.
• Collaborate with QAs to ensure product requirements are met and deployments are stable.
• Lead the team to ensure system robustness, healthy deployment pipelines, and observability.
• Review code and technical documents from other team members, providing constructive feedback.
• Improve the codebase, looking for improvement opportunities, proposing and setting better engineering solutions.
• Be responsible and responsive during on-call duty, leading the team to debug and troubleshoot production issues.

Qualifications

• Good computer science fundamentals in algorithms and data structures.
• At least 4+ years of experience in software engineering in a distributed systems environment.
• Experience with shipping products to production as the engineering owner.
• Experience running production services, overseeing service observability and incident resolution.
• Proficiency in Golang, including core syntax, concurrency handling, and optimization techniques.
• Experience with RDBMS (MySQL, PostgreSQL), cloud services (AWS, GCP), and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, AWS CloudFormation).
• Knowledge of cloud technologies and experience developing and deploying services on the cloud.
• Proficiency in using AI tools and coding agents to boost productivity.
• Familiarity with Agile development, CI/CD pipelines, and testing frameworks.
