Description

We are seeking an Assistant Operations Manager to oversee and manage the maintenance and operation of engineering services installed at Morgan Stanley's Hong Kong Data Centers.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Assisting the Hong Kong Operations Manager in daily activities to maintain 100% uptime
  • Liaising with team leaders and operational staff at each Data Centre
  • Preparing, implementing, updating, and revising operational processes and procedures
  • Managing vendor-generated works method statements, risk assessments, and permits to work
  • Reviewing Change Management documentation for all tasks within the data centers
  • Overseeing maintenance activities and incidents within the data centers
  • Liaising with third-party service providers to ensure compliance with Health & Safety requirements and meeting Key Performance Indicators and SLAs
  • Reviewing and reporting on maintenance practices to ensure they reflect current industry best practices
  • Escalating operational issues to the Ops Manager in a timely manner
  • Preparing and following all incidents via established procedures
  • Monitoring and reporting on Data Centre energy consumption and utilization
  • Identifying energy-saving opportunities
  • Advising and assisting in preparing Data Centre operational and maintenance budgets
  • Assisting in monitoring operational costs against agreed budgets
  • Identifying, evaluating, and planning for external risks to the operational effectiveness and efficiency of the Data Centers
  • Contributing to regional and global objectives in areas such as resiliency studies and design guidelines
  • Supporting the local EDC team in implementing critical engineering system status monitoring and building emergency response and escalation procedures
  • Liaising with other infrastructure silos on process improvement, operational issues, task scheduling, and project work

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A recognized qualification in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services) or Computer Science/Technology
  • At least 7 years of working experience in Infrastructure services management, preferably within mission-critical environments (e.g., data centers)
  • Fluency in English and Cantonese
  • Knowledge of local standards, codes of practice, or best industry practices
  • Understanding of IT systems, data center layouts, structural cabling systems, and IT device life cycles
  • Intermediate to advanced use of MS Office package
  • Demonstrated proactive communication skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain good relationships with colleagues, professionals, and clients

Preferred skills include:

  • Data Center experience in the Financial Services Industry
  • Data Center certifications – CDCP, CDCS, Uptime qualification
