Description
NVIDIA's Supply Base Engineering Team (SBE) is seeking a Mechanical and Thermal Supply Base Engineer to ensure seamless integration of design and manufacturing processes. You will focus on advancing Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles, developing MFD solutions, and driving manufacturing feedback to Engineering.
Responsibilities:
- Manage consumer NPI mechanical and thermal component qualification, manufacturing technology management, and MP readiness.
- Represent Operations during early product life cycles and provide manufacturability, quality, cost, and yield impact information to design, sourcing, and manufacturing engineering teams.
- Ensure clear product specifications, such as CMF, cosmetic spec, 2D drawing, and reliability requirements.
- Lead suppliers to establish efficient fabrication process flows and drive solutions to problems affecting MP.
- Provide manufacturability feasibility analysis, identify risks, develop mitigation plans, and apply risk-minimizing techniques.
- Perform surveys and audits for new supplier selection and qualification with functional teams.
- Implement the KISS principle and handle DFM exception agreements.
- Address front-line production and manufacturing product issues, monitor fleet health, and initiate investigations and corrective actions.
- Own yield and efficiency improvement actions and process change decisions based on SPC data analysis.
- Propose manufacturing waste reduction, cost optimization, and cosmetic appearance improvements.
Requirements:
- B.S. degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering (M.S. preferred) with 3+ years of consumer product design experience.
- In-depth knowledge of industrial design decoration manufacturing technology, material selection, and related tooling/mold technologies.
- Proven hands-on experience and proficiency in DFM best practices.
- Technical and quality-sensitive problem-solving skills with strong performance-oriented spirit and excellent coordinating and organizing abilities.
- Ability to learn quickly, operate outside comfort zones, and work in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities.
- Working knowledge of modern mechanical design tools, preferably Creo or SolidWorks, and proficiency with testing and inspection methods.
